Dear Mimi Burns Band,
Hi guys! My name is Gary Doan and I am the Director of a non-profit arts group called Fort Wayne Cultural Affairs. You may or may not remember my former company, Fort Wayne Music Fest. We presented concerts in Swinney Park, Fox Island and a variety of events at a space downtown called The Loft and at the Three Rivers Festival. As we prepare to launch this new venture, I am working with some friends from the local music scene who have volunteered to assist us in the presentation of some fund-raising events. I have a couple of documents I would like to send you to give you some idea of what I’m doing at present. One is a Press Release with a little information about the new company and our fund-raising series, and the other is a poster for the first fund-raiser event we are doing on August 16 at Columbia Street West. I hope to put together a “show” like this every month for the rest of 2009 to enable me to launch this new venture in 2010! We have a very cool fund-raiser event we are presenting in September (weekend of 25th, 26th, 27th) that will require some very talented performers and THIS is one I was hoping you might consider donating your talents to. We are planning a 75th Birthday tribute to LEONARD COHEN. (dob 9/21/34) The venue will be set up cabaret style and we will have a variety of local artists presenting some of the great and classic Leonard Cohen tunes. Each person will do one or two songs of their choosing. Of course we want to try to avoid duplicating stuff, but we can work that out later. At this juncture I just wanted to give you this basic information and hope that you will consider the invitation until I have an follow up with you personally, which I hope you will allow.
